First container train sent from Turkmenistan to China

The first container train to China departed from Turkmenistan in transit through the territory of Kazakhstan, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports with reference to the press service of the Kazakhstan Railways.
Potash fertilizers of the Garlyk mining and processing complex being carried along the route of the ancient Silk Road. The length of the route will be 9688 kilometers, of which 1,654 kilometers through the territory of Turkmenistan Kelif-Serhetyaka, through the territory of Kazakhstan Bolashak-Altynkol 3,450 kilometers and through the territory of China Khorgos-Qingdao 4,584 kilometers. It is planned to deliver the cargo to its final destination (Qingdao port) in 15 days, which is 3-4 times faster than the sea route with a competitive transportation tariff. The train will arrive at its destination in early November.
